
Dr Yuta Hirose
Industrial Associate
Yuta joined the IfM Education and Consultancy Services (IfM ECS) in 2018. He specialises in innovation and technology management with a particular focus on strategic roadmapping. Yuta’s role, as an industrial associate at IfM ECS, involves developing and deploying IfM research outputs into practice through projects on a collaborative basis, working closely with organisational partners in the Asia-Pacific region. Yuta has a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Cambridge. He also has a M.Sc. in Sustainability Science from the University of Tokyo in Japan, a B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering and a B.Com. in Finance from the University of Melbourne in Australia.
Yuta is interested in technology venturing, corporate technology strategy development, cross-border business and industrial development, innovation systems, and the role of management processes and tools such as roadmapping play in supporting them.
Previously Yuta worked as a chemical process engineer at a polymer manufacturing company, and then worked in technology business and strategy development support at a Japanese trading house while he also served as a technology consultant at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). During his time at UNIDO, he worked on a series of technology transfer projects and capacity building events for technology and manufacturing companies in Japan, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI). From 2019, Yuta is appointed as an external advisor at UNIDO, supporting international technology transfer and cooperation through the development of sustainable technology database with Japanese technology companies.
