Dr Thiago Lopes Genez

Research Associate

Thiago joined IfM in April 2019 as a Research Associate within DIAL (Distributed Information and Automation Laboratory) research group under Dr Alexandra Brintrup supervision. He is currently working to the DO-TES research project, a digitally optimised (DO) through-life engineering services (TES) architecture that endeavours to encompass legacy TES practices with digital technology, such as machine learning and big data analytics. His current work has close ties with several industrial UK partners, including Rolls-Royce plc, BAE Systems plc, Bombardier Inc., ANSYS Inc., and CFMS Ltd.

Short Background 

Thiago obtained his PhD degree in Computer Science from the University of Campinas, Brazil, in 2017. Before joining DIAL, Thiago was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Bern, Switzerland, and Research Assistant at Loughborough University, UK. Thiago was also an Academic Visitor for a year at the University of Manchester, UK, during his PhD.


Research Interests 

Thiago's research interests are on aspects of distributed systems and computer networks, mainly in scheduling and resource allocation in cloud/fog computing systems and their underlying network infrastructure. Overall, his current research interests extend to the following computer science domains:
