Background:
Askar Aryntay joined DIAL in January 2018 as a research student under the supervision of Prof. Duncan McFarlane. His main area of interest is the industrial application of IoT and Distributed Ledger Technologies. Therefore, his research investigates the application of DLT and IoT in Intelligent Logistics.
Before starting his Ph.D., Askar graduated with distinction from Imperial College London, where he studied MSc in Advanced Chemical Engineering. Prior to that, he was a part of the very first graduate cohort of the Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan, with a BEng in Chemical Engineering.
After graduation from Imperial College London, Askar joined the Dubai Business Internships, a 10-month business internship program run under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. During this period Askar worked at the Smart Dubai Office where he had the chance to get involved with projects related to IoT, Blockchain and other smart technologies. As a result of the hard work, Askar's team at the Smart Dubai Office was awarded the Outstanding Project Award, and Askar received the individual Faculty Award.
