Supporting sustainable growth in the East of England

A three-year project has significantly enhanced the growth prospects of 120 manufacturing SMEs across the Eastern Region, leading to the creation of approximately 140 new jobs and safeguarding many more.

PrISMS logoThe PrISMS (Practical & Innovative Solutions for Manufacturing Sustainability) project helped start-ups and SMEs in the East of England grow their businesses while reducing their costs and overall carbon footprint. Photofabrication, a photochemical machining firm, was one of the companies IfM ECS worked with. Paul Rea, Operations Director, said: “We worked closely with IfM ECS and we see the benefits. It allowed us to tap into resources we don’t have, to see things in a different way and to make decisions on that basis. We have a different mindset – it’s about getting better all the time.”

The PrISMS programme was funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), with match funding from the EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Industrial Sustainability, ideaSpace and IfM ECS.
